Standard reinforcing bar geometry including a standard hook with a minimum two and a half inch extension, six bar diameters, and a twelve bar diameter return. Standard bends specify mandrel diameters ranging from six bar diameters for number three through number seven bars, eight bar diameters for number eight and number nine bars, and ten bar diameters for number ten and number eleven bars. Typical closed ties feature six bar diameters at bent corners with hooked ends. Lap splices require a minimum forty-eight bar diameter lap length, equal to two feet minimum, tied together with wire.
