Vertical and horizontal reinforcement in the concrete shear wall is sized per the shear wall elevation. A concrete slab on steel deck bears against one side of the shear wall. An existing concrete-encased steel beam supports an existing concrete slab with slab reinforcement to remain after demolition on the opposite side.
