The roof channel chord splice connects structural steel roof channels end-to-end using a three-eighths-inch by twelve-inch by twenty-eight-inch steel splice plate welded along the bottom flange. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the splice plate with fourteen-inch lengths on each side of the joint. A three-inch metal roof deck bears above the structural framing, with deck attachment welds specified as three-sixteenths-inch welds at twenty-four-inch spacing. The roof channel member sizes are sized per plan.
