An exterior stair landing connection frames upward- and downward-extending stair stringers into hollow structural section members including an HSS12x3x1/4 stringer up, an HSS12x3x1/4 stringer down in the foreground, and an HSS8x4x3/8 member. An HSS4x4x3/8 vertical hanger connects via a three-eighths-inch-thick base plate and a three-eighths-inch-thick cap plate below. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the HSS12x3 member to the top of the cap plate. Additional framing includes an HSS10x4x3/8 member.
