A typical column splice connection is located four feet above the finished floor. The upper and lower column sections feature square-cut ends joined by complete joint penetration demand-critical welds at both the flanges and web. An internal erection plate aids in alignment during field assembly. Weld access holes and transitions for unequal thicknesses are specified per AISC standards.
