A hollow structural section member connects to a concrete wall through a half-inch by nine-inch by one-foot two-inch embed plate secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter by six-inch long stud bolts at a six-inch gauge. The structural steel member is fillet welded to the plate with a quarter-inch weld. Wire mesh is tack welded into the one-and-a-half-inch typical recess and filled with non-shrink grout after welding. All welded edges are ground smooth and prepared for prime and paint.
