Open-web steel joists bear on the top chord of a supporting joist girder. A profiled metal deck spans across the top of the joist assembly. Clearances between adjacent joist ends measure two and a half inches for K-series joists and five inches for long-span joists. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the connection components.
