A reinforced concrete column supports a concrete slab carrying reinforcement sized per the structural plan. Vertical dowels with standard hooks extend from the column into the slab per the column schedule, maintaining a two-inch clearance. A typical lap splice length is detailed per sheet specifications, allowing a maximum one-half inch overpour of the column into the slab.
