A galvanized W12 beam with a trimmed bottom flange connects to a W18 supporting member via an HSS 4x4x1/4 section and a 1/2-inch plate measuring 6 inches by 0 feet 10 inches secured with four 7/8-inch diameter high-strength bolts. A 3/8-inch full-depth stiffener is welded to each side of the web. The top of the W12 beam sits at elevation 482 feet 7 inches and supports a 2x nailer, three-ply laminated timber decking, and plywood sheathing.
