A tapered steel beam connects to a hollow structural section member using a three-eighths-inch end plate secured by four seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts. A half-inch plate and half-inch stiffener plates are welded to the steel beam. Cap plates are welded to the hollow structural section member with typical three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. A note indicates that the hollow structural section and connection are shown on only one side for clarity.
