An HSS post connects to a concrete slab using a 1/2-inch by 10-inch by 1-foot-2-inch embed plate equipped with four 1/2-inch diameter by 5-inch welded headed studs. The post assembly features typical L4x4x1/4 angles welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld on two sides, maintaining a 1-inch gap for slab deflection. The concrete slab is reinforced with additional #4 bars at 48 inches each way, totaling four bars around the connection. A 2-inch typical clearance and a 6-inch spacing are maintained relative to the welded headed studs.
