Steel roof trusses frame into a steel column with a bearing plate connection and a three-inch wood nailer secured to the top chord. A 3/8-inch by 4-inch by 12-inch plate or a 3/8-inch bent plate tailored to the roof slope bridges the top of the column. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld typically connects the truss components, and an eighth-inch intermittent weld with one-and-a-half-inch segments is applied where indicated.
