Masonry wall recesses require specific vertical and horizontal reinforcing details to maintain structural integrity. Vertical reinforcement is placed continuously full height on each side of the recess per detail requirements. Horizontal bars located below the recess extend forty-eight bar diameters past each side of the recess. Lintel bottom bar reinforcing is sized per the masonry lintel schedule.
