A pipe or conduit passes through a recessed portion of a concrete slab resting on firm undisturbed soil. Two number four bars measuring four feet zero inches are placed at each corner of recessed slabs where control or construction joints do not extend beyond the corner. Additional two number four bars by four feet zero inches are placed where control or construction joints intersect but do not continue beyond the intersection. Typical slab reinforcing is installed per plan within the typical slab thickness.
