Hollow structural section members connect via seat angles sized per member depth. For members at different depths, an angle is welded to the supporting hollow structural section column with a quarter-inch fillet weld, providing a seat for the supported hollow structural section beam. For members at the same depth, a three-eighths-inch plate ties the top flanges together while a bottom angle supports the beam. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the plates and angles to both the supporting and supported members as specified by the plan.
