A reinforced concrete column to beam joint features designated construction joints and specific concrete mix puddling zones. Where the column concrete compressive strength exceeds 1.25 times the beam concrete compressive strength, higher strength concrete is puddeled within the hatched area extending typically two feet from the column face. At spirally reinforced columns, the beam must be puddled with a concrete compressive strength equal to that of the column. Similar strength differential requirements apply between the column and slab concrete within the junction zone.
