A bolted chord splice connection utilizes Grade 50 steel plates and high-strength bolts. The connection incorporates a 1/2-inch by 11-inch bottom plate secured with fourteen 3/4-inch diameter A490 bolts with washers, alongside 1/2-inch by 6-inch plates on each side attached with seven 3/4-inch diameter A490 bolts. Fillet welds of 5/16-inch size are applied on three sides typically.
