A concrete slab over a metal deck bears on a structural steel beam with a minimum bearing length of two inches. Typical slab reinforcing requires a standard hook at the end where the overhang exceeds nine inches. Additional number three reinforcing bars at eighteen inches on center are provided where the overhang exceeds six inches. An edge form is supported beneath the slab overhang, and shoring is supplied as required.
