This assembly consists of three-eighths inch thick stiffener plates installed at full depth on each side of the steel beam web, centered on the studs. The stiffener plates are secured to the beam web with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds applied to both sides, typical for each plate. A threaded coupler is positioned at the top of the beam assembly, anchored with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld indicated by a field weld symbol.
