A steel stair stringer connection frames into a support beam with an L4x4x1/2 bearing angle and a three-eighths-inch stiffener plate at the stringer. An L3x3x1/4 brace connects to the next beam using a one-and-seven-eighths-inch diameter high-strength bolt and is welded to the flange. Plan view B-B details an HSS8x8 hollow structural section with a half-inch stiffener plate placed in the middle of the tube. Five-sixteenths-inch typical fillet welds are specified throughout the connection assembly.
