An open web steel joist bears flush against a supporting steel beam with a web plate furnished by the joist supplier. Three bolts connect the joist seat to the steel beam web plate, with bolt size and number coordinated directly with the joist manufacturer. A three-eighths-inch stiffener plate is welded to the steel beam web, with its location and connection coordinated with the joist supplier. Metal roof deck bears across the top chord of the joist and the steel beam.
