An opening in metal deck is framed by C6x8.2 channel headers and L4x3x1/4 angle trimmers with long legs vertical. Connection plates 3/8 inch thick with two 3/4 inch diameter bolts attach the channel headers to framing members. Puddle welds 1/2 inch in diameter secure the deck at each bearing and at 12 inches on center parallel. Section elevations A, B, and C detail the connections, including 1/4 inch closure plates welded all around with 3/16 inch fillet welds.
