A seismic tie plate connection joins hollow structural section purlins to a hollow structural section truss top chord beneath a roof deck. A five-sixteenths-inch by three-inch by twenty-four-inch seismic tie plate spans across the top of the purlins, welded with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. Each side of the purlin connects to the chord with a five-sixteenths-inch by five-inch plate welded with a five-sixteenths-inch fillet weld typically. The hollow structural section purlin features a three-sixteenths-inch cap plate welded with a seal weld all around typically.
