A two-sided beam-to-beam connection frames into a supporting girder, accommodating both beam depth differences greater than one inch and differences of one inch or less. The connection features a shear tab welded to the girder web, with bolted web connections on each side sized per plan and AISC specifications. For depth differences greater than one inch, a WT shape matching the beam flange width is welded to the bottom flange with a one-quarter inch fillet weld and extends two feet. For smaller depth differences, top and bottom flange connection details use standard complete joint penetration welds or plate connections as specified. Weld backup plates are omitted for clarity.
