Concrete wall openings are reinforced with two number five bars below the opening and lintel reinforcing above sized by the span. Openings up to five feet wide require two number six bars, while openings from five feet one inch to seven feet require two number seven bars. Standard hooks are used where bars cannot be fully extended. Jamb bars extend from floor to floor or floor to roof when the opening exceeds four feet in width. Lap splices and dowels from the wall footing are provided as detailed.
