Small openings in concrete slabs are reinforced with one number five bar top and bottom typically all around the opening perimeter. Diagonal corner reinforcement consists of one number four by four-foot bar top and bottom placed at each corner of the opening. The opening is limited to a maximum dimension of four feet by four feet with a minimum one-foot clearance from edges.
