A reinforced concrete tie beam supports a concrete slab with a brace frame slab blockout. The tie beam measures three feet wide by two feet eight inches deep and is reinforced with three number five continuous bars on each side, number four ties at twenty-four inches on center, and number four stirrups at twelve inches on center with alternating top ties. The top of the beam features number five dowels at twelve inches on center and number three continuous bars within the slab. Five number eight continuous drag bars run past columns, alternating sides and lap-spliced to braced frame gusset plates. A sawcut control joint is located in the slab above the tie beam, and construction joints are positioned per foundation plans.
