A pipe sleeve penetrates a metal roof deck, framed by structural steel angles welded to supporting steel beams with three-sixteenths inch typical fillet welds. Openings are reinforced using angle frames such as L5x3x1/4 or L3x3x1/4 with optional construction details for trimming the vertical leg at joists. An eighteen gauge plate is fastened over the assembly at the roof deck using number ten sheet metal screws at six inches on center each way. Sizing criteria dictates opening dimensions corresponding to pipe diameters up to thirty-six inches square for pipes under twelve inches in diameter, down to twelve inches square for pipes four inches or less in diameter.
