The assembly features an HSS 6x4x1/4 column base plate welded to a 1/2 inch by 10 inch by 1 foot 0 inch embed plate, which is secured to the concrete column with six 1/2 inch diameter heavy-duty sleeve anchors. Three sets of ties are spaced at 3 inches on center around the top embed within the concrete column. Above the base, a 4 inch diameter standard pipe is connected to the HSS column using L2x2x1/4 by 0 foot 6 inch bearing angles, each reinforced with two 1/4 inch stiffener plates aligned to the column edge. A 1/2 inch cap plate is welded to the HSS column with 3/16 inch fillet welds. Similar conditions utilize L4x4x1/4 by 0 foot 6 inch bearing angles.
