A structural steel column base plate is anchored to a concrete foundation with a central shear key. The assembly utilizes a three-inch-thick A572 Grade 50 steel base plate secured by eight two-inch-diameter F1554 Grade 55 anchor bolts with heavy hex nuts for bearing. Twelve number eight reinforcing bars are detailed for the shear key, with additional top bars provided on each side matching the foundation rebar size. A complete joint penetration weld is specified at the center column and base plate, with dimensions verified against the core brace gusset plate requirements.
