A reinforced concrete grade beam measuring two feet six inches deep supports a concrete slab on grade. The grade beam contains eighteen number seven reinforcing bars distributed throughout its cross section. Two layers of vapor barrier are placed directly beneath the slab on grade where it bears over the grade beam.
