A steel beam connects to a hollow structural section column using an L4x3x3/8 angle plate and a three-eighths-inch connection plate. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the plate assemblies to the hollow structural section column profile. One-inch dimensional clearances are maintained at the top and bottom of the connection plate. Four bolts fasten the beam web to the vertical angle leg.
