A suspended steel beam connects to a supporting steel beam with a maximum drop of three feet. The connection utilizes a web plate whose thickness is equal to the beam web thickness plus one-sixteenth of an inch, secured with typical bolted web plate connections and a cope as required. A web stiffener is provided on the supporting beam, sized per general structural notes. The plate is welded to the supporting beam with complete joint penetration welds and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds.
