A cast-in-place concrete grade beam supports a slab on grade. The foundation stem features top and bottom reinforcing bars sized per plan with three-inch clearance. Dowels match the size and spacing of the slab on grade reinforcement and extend down into the footing, though they are not required if poured monolithically. An optional cold joint is located at the intersection of the grade beam and the slab on grade. The footing width and embedment depth below the lowest adjacent grade are specified per plan.
