Reinforcement around a concrete wall opening consists of two number five continuous bars running horizontally across the bottom and vertically along the sides, supplemented by diagonal hairpin bars at each of the four corners. Each corner diagonal hairpin is specified as two number five bars typical unless noted otherwise, with a one inch clearance around the opening frame. Additional one number five by four foot bars are placed on each face typical unless noted otherwise. Edge dimensions dictate a two foot spacing from the opening boundaries to the surrounding concrete panel limits.
