This connection joins a beam to a girder web using a full-height 3/8-inch stiffener plate welded to the girder. The beam is coped at both flanges and connected to the stiffener plate via a bolted shear tab. The connection requires the maximum number of bolts that will fit within the beam depth, with a minimum bolt diameter and a 1/2-inch typical spacing. The stiffener plate is welded to the girder web with a 'W' weld symbol, and the assembly is sized per plan.
