A seven-eighths-inch thick knife plate connects the structural steel beams to the hollow structural section column using fourteen one-and-one-eighth-inch diameter A325N bolts on each side of the column. The bolts are specified as pretensioned with a Class A faying surface. A joist girder seat bears atop the column below the metal deck assembly. Fillet welds of nine-sixteenths-inch size tie the connection components together according to standard typical dimensions.
