Cold-formed metal studs bear directly onto a bottom track secured to a cross-laminated timber panel and glued-laminated timber substrate. Studs fit tight to the web of the track with gaps restricted to a maximum of one-eighth inch. Each stud flange fastens to the bottom track using number ten sheet metal screws on each side. Track splices require a one-foot section of stud fastened with two number ten sheet metal screws on each flange at each side of the splice for a total of eight screws, spaced at a minimum of forty-eight inches on center.
