An open web steel joist bottom chord is reinforced to support concentrated loads up to 8.9kN according to manufacturer specifications. The connection options include a 76x76x6.4 hollow structural section or two back-to-back 89x89x6.4 angles, secured with rods in standard-sized holes to prevent oversizing. Additional reinforcement includes a 32x32x4.8 angle positioned at point load locations with maximum spacings up to 1800 millimeters. The structural elements are either welded directly to the joist bottom chord or fastened in alignment with designated load cases and spacing thresholds.
