Geometric criteria and reinforcement requirements govern circular penetrations through a steel beam web. The hole diameter 'D' is restricted between one-quarter and one-half of the total beam depth 'd', with a web plate required per schedule when 'D' exceeds one-quarter of 'd'. Minimum edge distances and clear spacings between adjacent penetrations are specified, including a requirement for continuous web plates when multiple penetrations occur together. No web plate is required when the penetration diameter is less than one-quarter of the beam depth.
