Two steel joists bear onto a common steel girder, with metal roof deck installed above the top chords. Joist seats are secured to the girder using two 1/2" diameter A325 erection bolts for all joists spanning 40' or more. A 3/16" fillet weld is typical for the connection of the bottom chord bracing to the girder. The joist supplier provides bottom chord bracing, required at the joist nearest the mid-span of the girder, or as otherwise determined by the supplier. A 1/8" fillet weld with a 3" length is indicated at the top chord bearing seat.
