A one-eighth-inch saw cut is formed in the top of the concrete slab and filled with gray flexible polyurethane joint sealant. The cut depth is specified as one-quarter of the slab thickness for wet cut saws or one inch to one and one-half inches for early-entry saws. Fifty percent of the reinforcing bars extend continuously across the control joint. The assembly rests over standard under slab preparation and subgrade layers.
