A base plate and gusset plate assembly connects to a concrete foundation via a large embed plate measuring 1-inch by 27-inch by 2 feet 6 inches, centered on the column. Thirty-five number 6 rebar measuring 2 feet 4 inches are welded to the embed plate below at 4-inch spacing each way. A shear plate measuring 1 inch by 2 feet 4 inches is welded with 3/8-inch D1.8 welds. The column flanges feature complete joint penetration welds per D1.8-DCW, and the web is welded with 5/16-inch fillets. Square washer plates measuring 1-inch by 5-inch in Grade 50 steel with standard holes are provided per AISC recommendations. A typical 2-inch diameter grout hole and grout layer are positioned beneath the base plate.
