An interior masonry wall terminates below a concrete slab or beam, anchored by structural steel angles measuring four inches by four inches by one-quarter inch by one foot three inches, each side. Two five-eighths-inch diameter expansion anchors with a four-inch embedment secure each angle to the overhead concrete at twelve inches on center. A bond beam forms the top course of the masonry wall. A typical top of wall gap is maintained between the wall and the underside of the concrete element, with a minimum six-inch distance to the concrete edge. Note that this detail is prohibited at post-tensioned slabs.
