A warning sign is affixed to both sides of the steel beam within the plastic hinging zone, utilizing either a light gauge metal plate or adhesive material. The length of the plastic hinging zone spans a minimum of the beam depth unless otherwise noted on the structural plans. Yellow or ink stripes are painted on the beam web where fireproofing occurs. Hanger wire and a one-inch by sixteen-gauge strap are detailed for support coordination.
