A davit socket pedestal is centered on the column centerline and welded to a seven-eighths-inch thick cap plate. The cap plate rests on a structural steel column sized per plan, reinforced with half-by-ten-inch stiffener plates on each side where a shear tab does not occur. Beams frame into the column using shear tabs connected with a half-inch fillet weld. A three-eighths-inch weld secures the cap plate assembly.
