A structural steel column bears onto a concrete exterior footing via a base plate and anchor bolts, surrounded by a concrete slab-on-grade. A one-inch thick polyfoam wrap is installed around each column, with the top half-inch removed after twenty-eight-day strength and filled with sealant. Slab dowels match the slab reinforcement and provide a minimum two-foot lap splice or standard hook if less than development length. Metal stud framing and exterior cladding are located outside the column line per architectural drawings.
