Reinforcing steel bars overlap in a Class A lap splice configuration for concrete boundary elements, columns, beams, walls, and slabs. The overlap requires a minimum lap length of twelve bar diameters or twelve inches, whichever is greater, with a minimum clear cover dimension of one and one-half inches.
