The metal deck at the stair landing bears on a hollow structural section supported by a steel beam sized per plan. A quarter-inch cap plate is welded to the hollow structural section with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The adjacent floor slab utilizes metal deck and reinforcement detailed per plan.
