A steel framing connection detail shows a channel or wide flange member framing into a steel joist utilizing a one-quarter-inch hanger with a three-inch flange. Perpendicular framing where it occurs connects with a one-quarter-inch plate tab secured by two three-quarter-inch diameter A325-N bolts at three inches on-center minimum. The plate tab is welded to the perpendicular web with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on each side typically. Additional three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the assembly with typical dimensions of two-and-one-half inches and five inches. A one-half-inch typical clearance is maintained on all sides.
